What is NECO GCE?

The NECO GCE (General Certificate Examination) is an external exam conducted by the National Examinations Council for private candidates. It is held in November/December and is also called the Second Series.

It is different from the internal NECO SSCE, as it is meant for candidates outside regular school systems or those retaking the exam to improve their grades.

Who Can Register?

  • School leavers no longer in secondary school

How to Register for NECO GCE 2025/2026

Step 1: Visit the Official NECO Portal

Go to https://www.neco.gov.ng.

Step 2: Create Your NECO Account

Step 3: Login and Start Registration

After creating your account, log in and click Register for GCE External. Fill in your personal details and choose your exam town.

Step 5: Select Your Subjects

Choose a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 9 subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Step 7: Pay the Registration Fee

The registration fee is about ₦17,800 (excluding bank charges). Payments can be made via ATM card, internet banking, or Remita.
