The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened registration for the 2025/2026 academic session. The WAEC exam is one of the most important school-leaving exams for senior secondary school students in Nigeria and other West African countries.

WAEC 2025/2026 Registration Period

WAEC registration usually begins in November and ends around March of the following year. However, for the 2025/2026 session, registration is expected to close by March 2025, unless extended.

It is strongly advised that students register early to avoid late entry penalties.

Steps to Register for WAEC 2025/2026

Follow these steps to complete your registration:

Step 1: Visit an Approved Registration Center

  • Most schools handle WAEC registration internally.

  • Private candidates can register through approved WAEC cybercafΓ©s or agents.

Step 2: Obtain WAEC Registration Pin

  • A registration pin is required and can be purchased from WAEC-approved banks or vendors.

Step 3: Complete Your Bio Data

You will be required to input:

  • Full name (as it appears on your birth certificate)

  • Gender and date of birth

  • State and local government of origin

  • Email address and phone number

  • Address and nationality

Step 4: Choose Your Subjects

Select a minimum of eight and a maximum of nine subjects. Compulsory subjects include:

  • English Language

  • Mathematics

  • A trade or vocational subject (depending on school curriculum)

Step 5: Upload Passport Photograph and Fingerprint

A passport photograph with a white background and fingerprint biometric data will be captured.

Step 6: Submit and Print Acknowledgment Slip

After reviewing all inputs, submit the form and print your registration slip. This contains your exam number, center, and subjects.

Documents Required for WAEC Registration

  • Birth certificate or sworn declaration of age

  • Recent passport photograph

  • Registration pin

  • National Identity Number (NIN)

  • School ID or letter of identification (for private candidates)

WAEC Registration Fees

As of recent updates, the WAEC registration fee ranges between N18,000 to N25,000, depending on your state and school.

Late registration usually attracts an additional fee.

WASSCE for Private Candidates 2025 (Second Series) Registration Update Registration for the 2025 WASSCE Second Series for Private Candidates officially began on Monday, June 9, 2025. Candidates are strongly advised to complete the generation of their registration PINs on or before Friday, August 22, 2025. The final deadline for biometric capture and online registration is 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Prospective candidates should ensure all processes are completed on time to avoid missing the exam.
